    There are FIVE players off that list that I didnt immediately recognize as a capable NFL starter.

    that proves my point.

    Jamal Reynolds-never had an impact
    Rod Gardner isnt on a team.
    Willie Middlebrook is in the CFL
    Jamar Fletcher isnt on a team
    Derrick Gibson is out of the league

    Now, lets look at the rest;Here are the pro bowlers from that list;
    Mike Vick
    LT
    Reggie Wayne
    Todd Heap
    Deuce McCallister
    Richard Seymour
    Leonard Davis
    Casey Hampton
    Nate Clements
    Marcus Stroud
    Santana Moss
    Steve Huchinson

    thats 12 TWELVE former pro-bowlers from that team, more than any single team in the NFL had last year.

    Thanks for proving my point.
    The top 22 players on both sides of the ball from the 2001 draft would beat the Detroit Lions.

    28 (28) Indianapolis Colts - Rob Morris, LB Brigham Young
    29 (29) Jacksonille Jaguars - R. Jay Soward, WR USC
    30 (30) Tennessee Titans - Keith Bulluck, LB Syracuse
    31 (31) St. Louis Rams - Trung Canidate, RB Arizona

    Players that never panned out;
    Courtney Brown
    Travis Taylor
    Stockar McDougle
    Sylvester Morris (injuries, so you said not to count that)
    Chris McIntosh (neck injury)
    Reshard Anderson
    Erik Flowers
    r jay soward
    Trung Candidate

    That means out of 31 players, only 7 SEVEN were not capable NFL starters

    Pro-Bowlers;
    LaVar Arrington
    Chris Samuels
    Jamal Lewis
    Thomas Jones
    Brian Urlacher
    Plax Burress (all Pro, actually better than pro bowl)
    Shaun Ellis
    John Abraham
    Bubba Franks
    Julian Peterson
    Deltha O'Neil
    Shaun Alexander
    Chad Pennington (alternate)
    Chris Hovan
    Keith Bullock

    that is 15!!! FIFTEEN players out of 31 that have made a pro-bowl
    you are just making my point for me.

    What you don't realize is that it takes more than 22 to play! Come on biggin, this is insane. Special teams, depth, third down backs, nickel backs, etc.

    the big mistake you are making is you are looking at what these guys have become. you are saying take the top draft picks, put them on a team and they would beat the Lions. How many of these guys made an impact their rookie season? how many made the pro-bowl their rookie season. you are wanting to take rookies from the top of the dradft or the All SEC team and put them on a team against a team of pro's and the Lions win that game. Sure, if you keep that "all star" team together for 2 or 3 years and let them mature but as rookies, not a chance.

    and the Steelers had how many pro-bowlers on their CHAMPIONSHIP team? 3 or 4? having 12 pro-bowlers don't make you a championship team. Ask the Jets or the Cowboys. Plus you will have Mike Vick leading your team. If I recall, almost everyone was putting him down as a starting qb for the Falcons.

    We will disagree on this one.

    Re: This year's All-SEC team would beat..

    Are you serious?
    Do you not realize the talent level on that team alone would make them a touchdown favorite over any team in the NFL.

    Now you guys are just getting picky, you cant expect to take this as literal as you are taking it, most kickers arent selected in the first round, only 32 players isnt a team, yeah i know, but thats not the point nor the concept.
    I am saying, the talent level on these teams when it gets to the NFL makes it a very powerful team. Yeah, everybody needs depth and kickers and special teams, but when talking about the 22 major starting positions, if they were the starters on any NFL team, as rookies, they would beat the Detroit Lions.

    the 2000 NFL draft team, the one he brought up, would destory most NFL teams, with the 32 players in the first round as starters on a team.

    There are a couple of RBs down on the plains makin a lil noise as well...by season's end they'll prolly be as good a RB tandem as there is in the SEC.

    Re: This year's All-SEC team would beat..

    I dunno about that;

    By the end of the year, every team will have two great rushers.

    I like Alabama's personally hah, with Ingram running all over VT and Trent Richardson rushing for 100 yards and 2 TD's against FIU, with Upchurch and Grant coming in to throw teams off, itll be tough for anyone to stop Alabama from running the ball.

    Re: This year's All-SEC team would beat..

    I'd take Tate and McCalebb over any tandem in the SEC..AU has quite an arsenal at their disposal this year. Their best WR is yet to play at this point as well. And still, there's Fannin and Smith...and IMO Burns does a pretty good job of runnin the wildcat. Auburn is very likely to go into the UT game 4-0...and as the confidence builds they may have a legitimate say in who represents the west in the SEC title game.
    ...And if you ain't down with that, I got 2 words for ya....
